Love’s something special; yea it’s special alright

You can bend it or mold it, hold it or fold it

But no matter what you do, it won’t come out quite right

It’s a shot in the dark, when all ya got is a spark

It’s a hurricane blowin in a neighborhood park

All the time and the space and the life in the air

Leaves you deaf dumb and blind but you somehow don’t care

It’s a doomed dirty diamond from the start to the end

You’ll try your best to deny it, you’ll do your best to pretend

That it’s them and not you, that’s been leavin ya blue

You fear that they’re leavin, or that they’re untrue

The intangible taste, the elusive gaze of yesterday

Blindly searching for something pretentious to say

But left blind and baffled all you can do is stare

And wonder in awe when you ceased to care, when you ceased to be there

The moment it beckons, demanding your life

And life is so fragile, so wayward so trite

The fleeting seconds, constantly flying off

Into realms of dementia, the memories lost

And with each new day, a new memory gained

You forget the old, bury it deep in your brain

But the new ones too will fade into blue

A pale shade of blue, another memory subdued

Love from love as love breeds life

But all summers must end with a cold winter’s night

And there’s nothing you can say, nothing you can do

But to just hold on tight, look back on that night

Look to the past and think fondly of you.

Love
